How long shipping from Southampton, Antwerp and Shanghai really takes
Time at sea is only part of it. The honest answer covers collection, waiting for a sailing, the voyage and clearance at your port.
The stages
Collection and delivery to the export port, waiting for the next suitable sailing, the voyage itself, discharge at the destination port and customs clearance. Each stage varies; the sailing date is confirmed when shipping is booked.
Published sea-time ranges from Europe
These are the ranges shown on our country pages for sailings from Europe, including the UK (Southampton) and Antwerp:
Nigeria (Lagos (Tin Can & Apapa)): 25 to 32 days at sea, as published on our Nigeria page.
Ghana (Tema): 24 to 30 days at sea, as published on our Ghana page.
Sierra Leone (Freetown (Queen Elizabeth II Quay)): 28 to 35 days at sea, as published on our Sierra Leone page.
From Shanghai and Asia
Sailings from China and the rest of Asia are longer than from Europe. The schedule depends on the carrier and route and is confirmed at booking. We do not promise an arrival date before a sailing is booked.
Clearance
Import duty, VAT, vehicle age rules and registration requirements are set by each country and can change. Confirm the current rules with your country's customs authority before you order; LWD Africa's checkout total does not include destination duty, VAT or clearance.
